There's an inherent problem to the whole liberal vs conservative thing when it comes to the the many forms of welfare. Whenever a politician gets elected on promises of gifts from the government there's going to be a tax somewhere donw the road to pay for it. And whenever a politician gets elected on promises of tax cuts there's going to be a social service somewhere down the road to pay for it. This ebb and flow wouldn't be so bad on a long enough timeline. The problem is an alternative dynamic from big business where they keep politicians in office that both lower their taxes and are generous with taxpayer money. And when social services attempt the same treatment it backfires.. Politicians agree to support each other's corporate give aways perpetuating th problem further. To pay for it more money must be borrowed putting the country more in debt. And social programs are attacked while corporate welfare is ignored. I have some strategies to levvel the playing field: Unemployment It's too hard for a bearuracracy to fairly who really doesn't need communal help and who does. Instead, we should focus on incentives for able-bodied workers to return to work imediately instead of dragging their heels. Taxpayer dividends Taxpayer money should never be given without getting something back for the American people. If it's research for a new drug, maybe a retail price control. Other dividend coud include limiting CEOs to paying themselves no more than 50 times what they pay their lowest employee.Politicains often hide giveaways inside massive bills. Limiting the length of bills will keep them from sneaking things in. The Gold Standard If we take away the ability to endlessly borrow, the government will have to curb spending. As a society we'll have to figure out how to lower overhead and shift dependency from government to non-profits.
